The Director General of the Traffic Police has announced a ban on public transport near the state house, warning that violators will face vehicle confiscation and other penalties.
Speaking to the state-owned TV SSBC on Friday (Dec. 5) , Major General Kon John Akot cautioned motorists and public transport drivers against breaking the order.
He said disobedience could lead to immediate legal action, including the seizure of vehicles and important documents.
“I have directed all traffic police personnel to work along Presidential Palace Street. I am informing our citizens that this street is a symbol of our sovereignty in South Sudan. It must be free of motorcycles, rickshaws, buses, and heavy vehicles; only vehicles belonging to government employees going to their offices are permitted,” he said.
General Akot urged the public to follow traffic rules to ensure safety and smooth movement in the capital.
Authorities say the measures are part of ongoing efforts to enforce law and order, improve urban management, and protect public safety in Juba and nearby areas.
