The Ministry of Labour issues this circular letter to all organizations, companies, institutions, NGOs and business entities operating in the Republic of South Sudan with immediate effect.
As part of the government’s commitment to fair labour practices, protection of national employment and the maintenance of lawful workplaces, all employers are directed to strictly comply with the Labour Laws of the Republic of South Sudan.
In accordance with Article 46(3) of the Labour Act, 2017, every foreign employee must possess a valid work permit issued by the Ministry of Labour. Employing any foreign national without a valid work permit is a serious violation of the law and will result in penalties including prosecution, fines, closure of establishments and, where applicable, deportation.
All employers are hereby instructed to immediately verify the legal status of their entire workforce and ensure full compliance with all labour laws and regulations.
The Ministry will commence nationwide inspection and enforcement operations without further notice. Noncompliance will result in swift and decisive legal action.
