Police in Limpopo have arrested a popular musician in connection with a shooting incident that left a motorist seriously wounded.
The 30-year-old man, who cannot yet be named as he has not appeared in court, was arrested on Wednesday morning around 09:30 at a property in Bendor, Polokwane.
His arrest was carried out through a warrant by a joint team comprising the Provincial Investigation Unit and the Provincial Tracking Team.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed the arrest, saying it was linked to an attempted murder docket registered at the Westenburg police station.
“The popular musician was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation. The arrest followed the issuance of a warrant of arrest related to a case of attempted murder,” he added.
According to Ledwaba, the charges stem from an incident that occurred in the early hours of 19 October along Witklip Street in Ladanna, outside Polokwane.
It is alleged that the musician was involved in a confrontation with another motorist and fired several shots at the vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old man. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The case was initially opened at the Westenburg police station before being transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit for further investigation. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Tuesday, leading to the musician’s apprehension the following day. Police also seized his vehicle for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Provincial police head Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe praised the investigative and operational teams for their swift and thorough work.
“We are taking this matter very seriously, and a dedicated team was appointed to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” Hadebe said.
“The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing.”
The musician is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
